The very first big rumor that came before us was probably the Shapla Chatter murder rumor. Thousands of Hepajat workers were killed in a brush fire. This rumor is probably still going around. It was gone for a few days. Now, after Sheikh Hasina’s escape, this rumor has reared its head again.
Social media is nothing but rumors. Anyone can spread whatever they want using the templates of Prothomalo, Yamuna TV, and RTV. And the surprising thing is that so many people believe and spread that news without any vetting or even the slightest consideration of judgment. Especially the news that is going in their favor, they are posting shares without any thought. The last rumor I saw was about Mehzabeen. An old suiting photo of Mehzabeen, showing Mehzabeen with a bandage on her head, is being circulated alongside the photo of the showroom where she was attacked. Awami public is sharing this post a lot.
No Opinions, just Rumor
In those early days, Bansherkella was a master of this type of rumor-mongering. And now Awami League people are ahead of everyone. Over the past three months I have seen many people I used to follow, whose writing I liked, spread rumors because of their authenticity. How only party slavery led a man to the deep abyss! Even the fugitive Prime Minister’s son Sajib Joy’s page has spread several rumors. No complain or opinion, straight rumors that were later picked up in a rumor scan. However, those rumors were not removed from the page.
Types of rumor
Rumors are usually spread by two types of people. One being, knowingly, willingly, for some dishonest purpose, and the other being, without knowing or understanding. Staying away from these two types of people. Once the person spreads the rumour, whether he knows it or not, no further information can be taken from him. His words can no longer be taken seriously.
They should be scrapped. The intention of the person who spreads rumors knowingly is not honest and can do anything for his own benefit. Must stay away from a man like him. On the other hand, the person who can spread a piece of sensitive information without knowing it, without verifying it at all, we have to keep as far away as possible from bulls like him.
In most cases, you can tell whether a news story is a rumor or not just by using your common sense. If I catch the news of that Shapla Chattar. It is said that thousands of Hepajat workers were killed. Is it easy to kill a man and then conceal his body?
Example
Assuming that they were murdered, where did their bodies go? Do you really think that it is possible to completely wipe out thousands of bodies from places like Shapla Chattar in this one night? Is it really possible? Even then, another big thing is that the bodies disappeared overnight? No one searched for those people? Did anyone find them? Is it the case that at that time the government concealed their bodies and erased their names from people’s minds as strange magic?
If I get lost today my parents will look for me, my friends will look for me. A DG will be filed at the police station! Now the question is, how many workers who did not return to Shapla Chattar have such missing reports? Where is that list? If thousands of people died that day, there would be a huge list of missing people. Where is that list?
The new one comes
After Sheikh Hasina’s escape, a rumor was spread in the same way that 3438 police were killed! They have determined the number. The police administration has released a list of how many police have died. They have also published a list of how many police have not yet joined the force. There is a specific list of police numbers in Bangladesh. Everyone within that list joins the work, meaning they have visual proof that they are alive. So where did these three ‘thousand’ come from? And you believe that by what logic? Your situation is worse than the previous bulls.
Police have specific names and lists of their members. Everyone on that list has joined the work except for 187 people, so where did the 3,000 police come from? When asked, some of them refer to a video of Butper and others say, “I don’t lie.” Here is a sample of their references.
Awami League is such a party they do not understand anything but power. If they could, they would have seized power today. Waiting for tomorrow is not their thing. They are not coming because they have no power now. At the very moment they gain power, they will attack. Not waiting. Now, they have no power to do anything and the rumors are spreading online all day long. Beware of them.
